SAVOR NEW HOPE – SHOWCASE THE ARTS PROCEDES AS PLANNED

The Arts Are Alive & Well in New Hope & New Hope Is Ready to Welcome Weekend Visitors

This July 14, 15 and 16, 2006 New Hope Arts Inc. continues the five year tradition of Savor New Hope – Showcase the Arts, a weekend celebration of the arts and artists of the region. In the past 5 years this event has drawn thousands of visitors and residents over the three day weekend who embrace this town wide happening as a way to recognize New Hope and surrounding areas as a “Little Paris on the Delaware”.

This year’s event has special meaning for the riverside arts community as it will be the first major townwide event since the recent flood.

New Hope Arts Inc. Director Robin Larsen assures everyone, “New Hope has recovered and is ready to welcome weekend visitors. The response from the community has been amazing. The streets will be alive with art – businesses, restaurants and galleries on every street have planned special activities.”

New Hope Arts is a not for profit that organizes the three day celebration that features performances, demonstrations, concerts, art exhibitions and studio tours and will include a Self Guided Walking Tour of an Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition featuring eleven monumental pieces by nationally and internationally recognized sculptors. Indoor Exhibitions featuring paintings, prints, photography, sculpture and contemporary craft will be held at non-traditional venues such as Triumph Brewing Company as well as the Michener Art Museum and at numerous area galleries many that have planned artist talks, workshops and demonstrations. Saturday night from 6pm – 8pm or later visitors will enjoy a Gallery Stroll – a series of openings and wine and cheese receptions.

There will be lots of activities for children on Saturday July 15 from 12noon – 4pm when the New Hope Solebury Library will host a book sale and a storyteller for young people and artists will work with children in creating their own masterpieces from 12noon 4pm under the tents at the entrance to Union Square.

Music will be plentiful with ten free outdoor concerts featuring traditional American roots music, blues, folk, jazz, Celtic and more. In addition restaurants and clubs will also present indoor concerts and groups like the Downtown Performing Arts Center and the Bucks County Playhouse will present theatrical productions.

On Saturday the tents at Union Square will feature music and an art exhibition and sale – The Art of Adornment”. Savor New Hope is focusing on “wearable arts” and visitors to the community are encouraged to wear hats for the day. And throughout town a number of shops will offer a discount on items to visitor wearing hats for the day. A number of vendors under the tents will be selling handcrafted hats and at 4pm there will be a judging at the New Hope Arts Center at Stockton & Bridge Streets for the most creative chapeaus, wildest wearables, baby beanies and other categories. The public is encouraged to compete for prizes.

The weekend event culminates on Sunday evening, July 16 (6:00-9:00PM) with the Savor New Hope Celebration of the Culinary Arts on the grounds of Labor Logistics & Management and of George E. Michael, Inc. at Union Square in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Some of the finest area chefs and restaurants will personally serve delectable offerings that reflect the diversity and world-class cuisine that the New Hope area is recognized for worldwide. A number of area of wineries and brewing company will provide beverages. Tickets are $35 in advance (advance ticket outlets will close Friday at 5pm) and $40 Saturday, Sunday or at the door. The ticket price includes everything This event traditionally sells out and advance tickets are suggested.
And the menu offers a gourmet grazing with appetisers, salads, pastas entrees and desserts. Many chefs will attend and serve their delectible offerings.

MEDIEVAL SUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM KICKS OFF LAMBERTVILLE’S SECOND SATURDAYS

MEDIEVAL SUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM KICKS OFF LAMBERTVILLE’S SECOND SATURDAYS

On July 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. eclectic Lambertville, N.J., will undergo a Renaissance of sorts as strolling minstrels, juggling jesters, knights, wenches and squires take over the streets.

“A Medieval Summer Night’s Dream” kicks off Lambertville’s participation in Second Saturdays - evenings of fun, food and the arts celebrated on the second Saturday of each month. The event, hosted by the Lambertville Area Chamber of Commerce, is being staged in conjunction with twin river city New Hope’s Second Saturdays, which began earlier this year.

Pairs of period actors will provide Medieval-era entertainment on eight street corners throughout Lambertville.

Comedic sword play, improvisation, singing, juggling and more will continue throughout the evening.

The majority of shops and galleries in town, including America Antiques and Design, Picky Paws, Events in Style, No. 63, People’s Store, Monkey Hill, Mix Gallery, Alba Interiors, Artful Eye, Chocolate Box, Area, Reinboth Home & Garden, Peter Wallace, Ltd., Bucks County Dry Goods, Dresswell’s, LaSalle Gallery, Hrefna Jonsdottir Gallery, Coda, The Roxey Ballet, Tesoro, and Flying French Hens will stay open until 9 p.m. to offer visitors beverages, light refreshment and special offers.
